Adam Meeks' Union County Brings Opioid Drama to Theaters This August

Adam Meeks’ debut feature film, Union County, will hit cinemas on August 14. The drama, starring Will Poulter and Noah Centineo, follows two brothers struggling with opioid addiction. Its journey to the big screen began with a strong premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in January. Union County started as a 2020 short film written and directed by Meeks. After expanding it into a full-length feature, the project caught the attention of distributors. Oscilloscope Laboratories secured the rights for its theatrical release.

Meeks, a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, has built a growing reputation in the industry. He was selected for the Film Independent Screenwriting Lab, a programme supporting emerging talent. Recently, United Talent Agency (UTA) signed him for representation, further boosting his profile. The film’s cast includes rising stars Poulter and Centineo, both known for their work in independent and mainstream cinema. Their involvement has added to the anticipation surrounding the movie’s release.

With a set release date and distribution deal in place, Union County marks a significant milestone for Meeks. The film’s focus on opioid addiction and its high-profile cast position it as one of the standout indie dramas of the year. Audiences will see it in theatres from mid-August.
