Russia's Chronicle of Hearts invites students to revive wartime music heritage

Russia’s annual patriotic campaign Chronicle of Hearts: Music of Victory has launched, running until May 27, 2023. The initiative encourages schoolchildren to explore the music of the Great Patriotic War through creative submissions in three distinct categories. The campaign forms part of the interagency project Culture for Schoolchildren, focusing on iconic wartime melodies. Participants can enter one or more of the following categories: Voice of Victory, Melodies of Victory, and Wartime Waltz. All submissions must be registered by the deadline on the official portal, CultureForSchoolchildren.RF.

Up to 100 standout entries will be chosen by a panel of experts. These selected works will then be published on the same platform for wider recognition. Zhanna Alekseeva, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Culture, has urged young people to engage with the enduring legacy of these songs. The campaign’s full rules and participation guidelines are available via the provided link.

The initiative aims to deepen students’ connection to their country’s history through music. Successful entries will be showcased on the Culture for Schoolchildren platform. The submission window closes on May 27, 2023.
