Investigator from Police Division No. 4 of Russia's Interior Ministry Directorate "Yakutskoe" Completes Probe into Illegal Sale of GTO Certificates

An investigator from Police Division No. 4 of the Russian Interior Ministry's Directorate for the Yakutsk region has concluded a criminal investigation under Article 324 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Trafficking in Official Documents and State Awards") against two employees of a physical education and mass sports institution.

The two 27-year-old defendants, acting out of self-interest, allegedly organized the illegal sale of certificates confirming completion of the Ready for Labor and Defense (GTO) fitness standards. Each document was sold for 1,000 rubles.

Preliminary findings suggest that around 30 individuals purchased the certificates despite never actually meeting the required standards.

Why GTO Certificates Matter

Holding an official GTO certificate provides several benefits: - Increased scholarships; - Bonus points for university admissions; - Eligibility for tax deductions.

The case file, including the approved indictment, has been forwarded to court for trial.
