Hessen to Increase Wages for People with Disabilities - Werkgemeinschaft Pushes for Fair Wages in Disability Workshops

The Werkgemeinschaft e.V., specifically its unit 'Einheitliche Ansprechstelle für Arbeitgeber' (EAA) Wiesbaden, is pushing for the implementation of a study on transparent and future-proof salary structures for people with disabilities in workshops in Wiesbaden. Currently, employees in these workshops earn an average of 218 euros per month, falling short of the minimum wage.

Workshops in Hesse strive to offer individuals with disabilities a purposeful daily routine, recognition, and social connections. The state backs the federal government's plans to enhance wages for these people. The federal government has initiated a study to develop a clear and sustainable wage system for people with disabilities working in workshops. Between 2015 and 2024, 452 workshop people in Hesse successfully transitioned to the general labor market.

The Werkgemeinschaft e.V. and the state of Hesse advocate for fairer wages for people with disabilities in workshops. The federal government's study aims to create a transparent and future-proof salary structure, potentially benefiting the 452 people who have already transitioned to the general labor market and those still in workshops.
