Twins edge Guardians 5-4 with clutch fifth-inning rally

The Minnesota Twins secured a narrow 5-4 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. The win marked a rare success in their recent one-run games against Cleveland, improving their record to 7-20 in such matchups over the last 27 meetings.

The Twins broke through in the fifth inning with a four-run rally. Brooks Lee delivered the key hit—a tiebreaking single—that put Minnesota ahead 2-1. Royce Lewis followed with an RBI double, while Josh Bell and Austin Martin each contributed run-scoring singles.

Kody Clemens also made an impact, collecting three hits for the Twins. On the Guardians’ side, Brayan Rocchio stood out with a career-high four hits, including two runs scored. Cleveland starter Gavin Williams struggled, allowing five runs and 10 hits over six innings. The game saw Kendry Rojas earn his first major league win after coming in relief for Minnesota. Despite Cleveland’s late push, the Twins held on to claim the victory.

The Twins’ fifth-inning surge proved decisive in their 5-4 win. With this result, they snapped a long streak of close losses to the Guardians. Cleveland’s strong offensive effort, led by Rocchio, wasn’t enough to overcome Minnesota’s timely hitting.
