Rangers blank Cubs again as deGrom hits 1,900 strikeouts in dominant win

The Texas Rangers secured a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Monday night. The win marked their second straight shutout, sealing the series. Jacob deGrom dominated on the mound, reaching a major career milestone in the process. DeGrom struck out two batters in the first inning, recording his 1,900th career strikeout. He went on to tie his season high with 10 strikeouts over seven innings of work. Despite his dominance, Nico Hoerner managed two hits off the Rangers ace.

The Rangers broke the deadlock in the fourth inning. Josh Jung crossed home plate after Alejandro Osuna’s grounder drove him in. The game remained tight until the eighth, when Evan Carter launched a two-run homer to extend the lead. Jacob Latz took over in the eighth and closed out the game with ease. He retired all six batters he faced, earning his fourth save of the season. The final out came when Seiya Suzuki struck out with Ian Happ waiting on deck.

The Rangers’ back-to-back shutouts handed the Cubs a tough series loss. DeGrom’s 10-strikeout performance and Latz’s flawless save highlighted Texas’s strong pitching. The team now looks ahead after a clean sweep at home.
