Sochi State Circus to Be Named After Soviet Legend Mstislav Zapashny

The circus will bear the name of the People's Artist of the USSR following an announcement by Sergei Belyakov, director general of Rosgoscirk, as reported by TASS.

According to Belyakov, the post-Soviet era saw the fading of the tradition of naming circuses after renowned performers—a practice that Rosgoscirk, in collaboration with the Great Moscow Circus, now seeks to revive. The official naming ceremony will take place on May 14 as part of the Inclusive Festival in Sochi.

Family and friends of Mstislav Zapashny, including his grandson Yaroslav Zapashny—currently on tour in Sevastopol—have been invited to attend the event.
