Sabres St. Pölten clinch seventh EWHL title with 3–1 final victory

The Sabres St. Pölten have clinched their seventh title in the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL). The Lower Austrian team secured the championship with a 3–1 victory in Sunday's final rematch against Aisulu Almaty, leaving no doubt about their overall triumph after dominating the first period with another 3–1 win.

As in the first matchup, Tamina Schall opened the scoring for the Sabres. The forward struck early to put her team ahead, and just one minute later, Verena Haselsteiner extended the lead to 2–0. Though the Kazakh visitors pulled one back in the second period, St. Pölten maintained control of the game. In the final frame, the Sabres sealed their victory: Madison Laberge made it 3–1, locking in both the score and the championship.

This marks the Sabres' seventh EWHL title in club history. Their shot at a double remains alive, with the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League Final Four set for April 3–4 in Graz, where the national crown will be decided.

In the third-place matchup, MAC Budapest secured the bronze. Despite a 0–1 loss in the rematch against the KSV Highlanders, the Hungarians' 5–2 home win in the first leg was enough to claim the overall victory. The lone goal in Kapfenberg came early from Andrea Kantorová.
