Rennsteig Werkzeuge unveils expanded factory in Steinbach-Hallenberg

Rennsteig Werkzeuge has officially opened its expanded factory in Steinbach-Hallenberg. The project marks the company’s third production capacity increase since moving its headquarters to the region in 1998. The expansion follows strong economic growth, with revenue rising by over 60% between 2020 and 2025.

The symbolic opening was led by Ralf Putsch, a shareholder and managing director of Knipex, alongside Jonas Putsch. They were joined by key figures including Sascha Zmiskol, Rennsteig’s managing director, and Georg Holland-Moritz, the technical director. Guests at the event also included Thorsten Herrmann, president of the Südthüringen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), and Markus Böttcher, the mayor of Steinbach-Hallenberg.

Schmalkalder Bau GmbH oversaw the construction as the general contractor, while local firms handled specialised trades. The expansion aims to add more manufacturing space and improve production logistics. Company leaders highlighted the workforce’s expertise and commitment as key reasons for keeping operations in Germany.

The investment will help Rennsteig Werkzeuge grow its market presence and strengthen global distribution of its 'Made in Germany' products. The new facilities are expected to enhance efficiency and support the company’s long-term production goals.
