Portugal Approves New National Civil Protection Hub in Viseu
The municipalities of Viseu have reached an agreement on both the location and the funding strategy for the project. The Gonçalves Lobato airfield in the district capital will serve as the central hub.
The national government is also on board, and the Assembly of the Republic has passed a resolution underscoring the urgent need to establish Viseu's National Alternative Civil Protection Center.
The facility, with an estimated cost of nearly five million euros, will house the current regional Civil Protection command for Viseu and double as the national command center in the event of a major disaster.
