Padres rally late to edge White Sox 4-3 in dramatic comeback

The San Diego Padres edged out the Chicago White Sox in a tight 4-3 win on Tuesday. The game saw late-game heroics, key home runs, and a clutch save from Padres closer Mason Miller. Both teams traded blows before San Diego secured the victory in the eighth inning. Chicago struck first when Drew Romo hit a leadoff home run in the third inning. The White Sox extended their lead to 3-0 in the seventh, thanks to Derek Hill’s two-run shot.

The Padres began their comeback in the fourth. Xander Bogaerts scored from third on a passed ball by Romo, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Griffin Canning, making his Padres debut, allowed just one run and struck out seven over five innings.

San Diego tied the game in the eighth. Ramon Laureano stole second and advanced to third on Jackson Merrill’s single. Merrill then stole second himself, setting up Bogaerts’ go-ahead RBI single to make it 4-3. Jason Adam kept Chicago scoreless in the eighth, while Romo committed two passed balls during the game.

Mason Miller sealed the win in the ninth, striking out the side for his 11th save of the season. Earlier, Manny Machado and Miguel Andújar each hit solo home runs to keep the Padres in contention. The Padres’ late rally secured their 4-3 victory over the White Sox. Bogaerts’ clutch hit and Miller’s dominant ninth inning proved decisive. San Diego now looks ahead to their next matchup following a hard-fought win.
