Oeiras Snail Festival Returns with Music, Football and Free Entry

The Snail Festival returns to Oeiras this month, bringing four days of live music, food, and football. Held at Alges Market from May 21 to 24, the event offers free entry to all visitors. Organisers have lined up performances, traditional snacks, and a live screening of the Portuguese Cup final. The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, and Wednesday, May 22. On Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24, doors open earlier, at 12 p.m. Each day will feature live music, including sets from DJ Pedro Diaz and Filipe Gonçalves.

On May 23, GM will take the stage as part of a tribute to the iconic Portuguese band Xutos & Pontapé. The following day, the festival will broadcast the Portuguese Cup final between Sporting and Torreense, starting at 5:15 p.m. Food stalls will serve classic dishes like snails, roasted snail stew, fried cuttlefish, and caldo verde. The market’s usual vendors will also remain open during the event.

The Snail Festival runs until May 24, with no ticket required. Visitors can enjoy music, football, and Portuguese street food throughout the week. The event closes after the cup final screening on Friday evening.
