North and South Korea reunite on the pitch in historic women's football match

A rare football match between North and South Korean teams will take place on May 20. Naeguhyang FC from North Korea is set to play Suwon FC Women in Suwon Stadium. The event marks the first time in years that a North Korean team has competed in South Korea. The last appearance of North Korean athletes in a South Korean sporting event was in December 2018. Back then, they took part in the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in Incheon. Since then, no North Korean teams have played in the South.

The upcoming match has drawn attention for its sporting and political significance. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm local time. Both sides will meet on the pitch after a long break in cross-border competitions.

The game will be the first of its kind in over five years. It follows a long pause in North Korean participation in South Korean-hosted events. Fans and officials alike will watch closely as the two teams compete.
