Carnaval San Francisco 2026 Kicks Off With a Vibrant Grand Parade This Sunday
Carnaval San Francisco 2026 has officially begun with its Grand Parade taking place this Sunday. The event celebrates soccer and cultural diversity under the theme La Copa Del Pueblo – The People’s Cup. Thousands of artists from across Latin America and beyond will fill the streets of the Mission District with music, dance, and colourful displays. The parade starts at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday, May 24, at the corner of 24th and Bryant streets. From there, it will move west onto Mission Street, turn north toward 15th Street, and finally head east along 15th Street until reaching South Van Ness Avenue.
Over 60 contingents will take part, featuring more than 5,500 performers. Artists from Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Bolivia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and other countries will showcase their traditions through vibrant costumes, floats, and live performances. The event highlights the shared joy of soccer, emphasising its role in bringing communities together. For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be broadcast live on KPIX+ 44 / Cable 12 across the Bay Area. This year’s Carnaval San Francisco centres on soccer’s power to unite people from different backgrounds.
