Noel Gallagher's Signed Guitar, Used to Perform Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, Sells for $96,000 at Sotheby's New York

Noel Gallagher's Oasis guitar sells for $96,000 ahead of reunion tour

A guitar autographed by Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher—the same instrument he used to perform hits like Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova—has sold for $96,000 at a Sotheby's auction in New York, according to the auction house's website. The instrument had been estimated at $60,000–$80,000 ahead of the sale, which took place on April 23.

The guitar in question is an Epiphone EJ-200 acoustic, which Gallagher played during the recording of Oasis's second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. Released in 1995, the record—now certified for over 22 million copies sold—features iconic tracks like Don't Look Back in Anger and Some Might Say.

Also sold at the same auction was Gallagher's handwritten manuscript for Don't Look Back in Anger, which fetched $38,400. The song marked the first Oasis single to feature Noel on lead vocals; previously, his vocal contributions had been limited to B-sides, with his brother Liam Gallagher handling the band's primary vocal duties.

Founded in 1991 by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, Oasis originally performed under the name The Rain. The band skyrocketed to global fame with the release of Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, becoming one of the defining acts of the Britpop movement. Oasis disbanded in 2009 after Noel's departure amid a long-standing feud with Liam. Over their 18-year career, the group released seven studio albums, each topping the UK charts and achieving multi-platinum status.

In 2024, the former members announced a reunion for a UK and Ireland tour. In July 2025, Oasis performed their first concert in 16 years, taking the stage in Cardiff.
