New Edition of Outline of Foreign Exchange Law Reflects Two Decades of Change

A fully updated guide to foreign exchange law has just been released. Armin Kammel and Alfred Schramm, both leading legal experts, have published the second edition of Outline of Foreign Exchange Law. This new version arrives nearly two decades after the first edition and reflects major changes in regulations and enforcement. The book builds on the original 2006 edition but has been completely revised to address recent legal shifts. Key updates include the impact of the Sanctions Act 2024 (SanktG), which has broadened and reallocated regulatory duties in sanctions enforcement. The Foreign Exchange Act 2004 (DevG) remains the core legal framework, but its application has evolved significantly.

Kammel, Of Counsel at DLA Piper Austria and an Associate Professor at Webster Vienna Private University, brings extensive legal and academic experience to the project. Schramm, a senior expert at Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA), contributes deep institutional knowledge. Together, they aim to offer a practical resource for lawyers, in-house counsel, financial professionals, and students. The authors designed the guide to bridge theory and practice. It covers complex legal requirements while remaining accessible to both seasoned practitioners and those new to the field. The second edition responds directly to the growing demands of compliance and enforcement in an increasingly regulated environment.

The revised Outline of Foreign Exchange Law is now available for professionals navigating the field. It provides updated analysis on sanctions, foreign exchange controls, and regulatory responsibilities. The book’s release comes at a time when legal and financial sectors face rapid institutional changes.
