Sickte: Over 600 Participants Join Record-Breaking Inclusive Charity Run "Neuerkerode in Motion"
Neuerkerode's charity run breaks records with 600 participants and big donations
More than 600 people took part in this year's inclusive charity run Neuerkerode in Motion—the highest number ever recorded. According to a press release from the Evangelische Stiftung Neuerkerode (ESN), this marks a powerful statement in support of inclusion.
For the first time, late registrations were not permitted to ensure safety along the route. "Otherwise, we would have had even more participants," said Tobias Henkel, CEO of the Evangelische Stiftung Neuerkerode, who opened the event alongside Arne Puls, Authorized Officer for Personnel and Organization at main sponsor Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS).
A Vibrant Supporting Program
Alongside the 600 enthusiastic participants—who walked, rolled, or cycled the various routes under brilliant sunshine—many spectators gathered on the village square to cheer them on. The Dibidumbas, a drumming group from Neuerkerode's music education program, provided an energetic boost along the way, while cheerleaders from TSV Sickte celebrated runners as they crossed the finish line. Organizers also expressed gratitude to the Veltheim Volunteer Fire Department, whose members ensured safe road crossings as course marshals. The event was a colorful celebration of togetherness.
Where the Donations Go
This year marked the third edition of Neuerkerode in Motion as a charity run. Corinna Totschek raised the highest individual donation, participating for the first time with her friend Miriam Bessel. "Inclusion is close to our hearts," Totschek said. "Finding donors for such an important cause wasn't difficult." While sponsorship and partner funds cover the event's organizational costs, all participant-raised donations—totaling €1,763—will support the redesign of the outdoor facilities at Neuerkerode's bowling alley.
There was also a special surprise from sponsor MKN Maschinenfabrik Kurt Neubauer: the company pledged a donation for every employee who registered. MKN presented a €1,000 check for the "Wishes on the Move" project—on top of its existing sponsorship.
