MMRDA nears award for Thane's Rs 500-crore creek bridge project

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is nearing the award of a major bridge contract in Thane. The project involves building a creek bridge between Kolshet and Kalher to improve regional transport links. Five firms competed in the tender, with two bids disqualified during technical checks. The tender process began with five companies submitting proposals. Two bids failed the technical evaluation, leaving three contenders for the financial stage.

SMS Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) with a quote of Rs 498.1 crore. NCC Limited followed closely as the second-lowest (L2) at Rs 503.2 crore. Aakshya Infra Projects Pvt Ltd secured the third position (L3) with a bid of Rs 507.4 crore.

The bridge aims to strengthen east-west connectivity in Thane. Once completed, it will ease traffic movement between Kolshet and Kalher. MMRDA will now conduct a final review of SMS Limited’s financial bid before issuing the contract award. The selected firm will handle both design and construction of the creek bridge. After financial scrutiny, MMRDA will formally award the contract. The project marks a key step in improving transport infrastructure in the Thane district.
