Korda and Do tie for Riviera Maya Open lead after flawless rounds
Nelly Korda and Brianna Do now share the early lead at the Riviera Maya Open. Both players sit at 9-under 135 after strong second-round performances. Korda’s precise play and Do’s consistency put them ahead of the field on Friday. Korda opened with a 5-under 67, matching Do’s score to tie for the top spot. Her round included birdies on two par-5 holes, while she avoided bogeys entirely. Though she hit only seven of 14 fairways, her positioning rarely faltered, and she putted for birdie on all but two holes.
Do also carded a 69, keeping pace with Korda’s steady performance. Meanwhile, Japan’s Minami Katsu sits two shots back after a 69 of her own. Gaby Lopez of Mexico, playing alongside Korda, finished with a 71 and trails by four strokes. Later in the day, Melanie Green and Carlota Ciganda will take to the course. Forecasters expect stronger winds, which could test the afternoon players.
Korda and Do enter the weekend tied at the top of the leaderboard. Their bogey-free rounds and consistent putting have set them apart so far. The tournament’s outcome may hinge on how they handle the changing conditions in the final rounds.
