Hallmark's Kentucky Roses Brings Love and Derby Drama to Derby Day
The Hallmark Channel is set to premiere its latest romance film, Kentucky Roses, on Derby Day. The movie follows the story of a greenhouse worker and the son of Churchill Downs’ CEO as they team up to save a cherished Kentucky Derby tradition.
The project marks a collaboration between the Hallmark Channel and the iconic horse race, blending romance with the excitement of the event. Odette Annable stars as Sadie, an aspiring florist working in her family’s greenhouse. This role also marks her first appearance in a Hallmark Channel production. Annie Fitzpatrick plays Anna, Sadie’s mother and the greenhouse’s owner, while Abigail Esmena takes on the role of Camila Ortiz, Sadie’s best friend, who is busy preparing her horse for the Kentucky Derby.
Andrew Walker portrays Ash, an architect and the son of Churchill Downs’ CEO, Frank Reed, played by Gregg Henry. Brynn Thayer appears as Lillie Taylor Reed, Ash’s mother and Frank’s wife. The film’s plot centres on Ash and Sadie joining forces to preserve the Kentucky Derby’s traditional rose blanket.
Adding another layer to the story are Peyton Meyer and Ally Ledford, who play Lefty and Gloria Green. Their love story unfolds alongside the main romance, weaving together multiple relationships against the backdrop of the Derby. Kentucky Roses will air on the Hallmark Channel during one of the biggest days in horse racing. The film combines romance, family bonds, and the high stakes of the Kentucky Derby.
