Gerba–Omsukchan Bridge Undergoes Massive Four-Year Repair Project

Our website, April 24 – As part of the national project Infrastructure for Life, a major overhaul of the bridge crossing over the Bolshaya Kupka River at the 107th kilometer of the Gerba–Omsukchan highway will begin this June. The repair section spans 266.34 linear meters, with Vostok-Capital LLC serving as the contractor.

This road is the sole transport link connecting the settlements of Omsukchan and Dukat. Omsukchan is home to an airport equipped to handle helicopters and mid-size aircraft. Both communities are known as hubs of the mining industry, set in a subarctic climate.

During the repairs—covering the riverbank and intermediate supports, bridge spans, decking, abutment transitions, embankment drainage, and restoration of the roadbed and pavement—the contractor will implement reversible traffic flow. Work is set to commence once temperatures rise above freezing, with the project scheduled for completion in 2027.
