Five giants unite to launch Europe's Software République for smart mobility
Five industry leaders have joined forces to launch the Software République, a new innovation hub for intelligent mobility. Based at Renault’s Technocentre in Guyancourt, the initiative will focus on cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and virtual twin systems. The founders stressed the need for Europe to secure its independence in the fast-growing mobility sector. The Software République was announced by Elie Girard, Bernard Charles, Luca de Meo, Jean-Marc Chery, and Patrice Caine. Their goal is to develop and sell software and systems that improve mobility for cities, businesses, and individuals. The project will operate from Odyssée, an eco-friendly building at the Renault Technocentre.
Three key areas will drive collaboration: secure connectivity for intelligent systems, advanced simulation and data management, and energy solutions for easier charging. The group also plans to support start-ups through an investment fund and an incubator focused on smart mobility.
The global mobility market is set to expand by 60% by 2035, reaching €11 trillion. To stay competitive, the Software République will welcome new partners and encourage open cooperation. Its work will span AI, cybersecurity, embedded electronics, and virtual twin technology. The initiative aims to strengthen Europe’s position in mobility innovation. By combining expertise from major companies, it will accelerate the development of sustainable and connected solutions. The first projects will launch from the Odyssée hub in Guyancourt.
