40-Year-Old Driver Unharmed in Wind-Related Crash
Fierce storm flips van and wreaks havoc across Russia's highways
A powerful gust of wind caused a traffic accident involving a Gazelle cargo van with a trailer in Russia's Samara region. The incident occurred on the M5 highway near the village of Utyashka in the Neftegorsk district, the regional Interior Ministry reported.
According to traffic police, a strong crosswind blew the vehicle off the road and flipped it over. The trailer was partially damaged and detached, though it was empty at the time. The 40-year-old driver, who was behind the wheel, was not injured.
After the crash, the man had to gather his belongings and documents, which had been scattered across a field by the high winds. At the time, the region was under an orange-level weather alert.
Earlier, squall winds triggered a series of emergencies in Kazan. The storm damaged structures, toppled trees, and downed power lines, severely disrupting traffic in the city.
