Electric car flips on icy German road, driver escapes serious harm

Fire crews from Pässe, Meinersen, Müden, and a command vehicle from Ahnsen were alerted to an accident on Bundesstraße 188 between Gut Hardesse and Warmse shortly after 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday. The Meinersen collective municipality's fire department detailed the incident in a press release.

A Volkswagen ID.3 had veered off the road and rolled over, with reports suggesting the driver was trapped inside. "Upon our arrival, the individual had already exited the vehicle on their own," said Jan Weichsler, incident commander for the Pässe fire brigade.

Driver Taken to Hospital for Further Examination

Firefighters secured the scene while paramedics attended to the young man, who was initially assessed as having minor injuries. He was later transported to Gifhorn Hospital for additional medical checks.

Icy Conditions May Have Played a Role

The driver had been traveling toward Hanover in his electric vehicle when he lost control and left the road to the left, causing the car to flip. Police are investigating the exact cause, though road conditions at the time were hazardous due to weather-related black ice at the scene.
