Chicago's 8K race unites runners to combat gun violence on June 4

The Chicago Race Against Gun Violence will take place in Grant Park on June 4. Organised by Strides for Peace, the event aims to support and fund local groups working to reduce gun violence in the city. Our News Chicago is serving as the media sponsor for this year’s race. The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with a welcome, warm-up exercises, and the Kids Sprint for Peace. Participants can choose from four different races: an 8K run, a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, or the Kids for Peace sprint.

All donations collected will go directly to the charity of each participant’s choice. The event focuses on celebrating community efforts while raising funds for organisations tackling gun violence across Chicago.

The race brings together runners, walkers, and supporters for a shared cause. Funds raised will help local charities continue their work against gun violence. Registration remains open for those wishing to take part.
