Charlize Theron plans Australia move after filming Apex's grueling stunts

Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is used to scaling the heights to showcase her considerable talents but she took method acting to the extreme to promote her new survival film Apex.

Swapping the Australian outback, where she filmed the new cliff-edge psychological thriller, for New York, the fearless South African star scaled a specially constructed climbing wall set into a giant billboard in Times Square.

And the 50-year-old Monster star coolly completed the task several hundred feet above the ground.

Charlize co-stars with Kingsman star Taron Egerton, who portrays a serial killer hunting her down as she undertakes a solo expedition in memory of her husband.

She reportedly had to overcome a fear of heights to do her own stunts.

But dressed in a white cotton vest, baggy white trousers and climbing shoes and wearing a climbing harness, she showed no sign of nerves as she made the sheer climb.

Filming took its toll - she revealed that she needed two surgeries on her arm, injured her ribs and fractured her toe.

It comes as Charlize revealed plans to move permanently to Australia, after falling in love with the country while shooting the film.

She filmed in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, and told Australia's 10News that a move Down Under was inevitable.

'Mark my words - I will live in Australia one day,' she said.

'It truly is, for me, an incredible place.'

Charlize added that her two daughters, Jackson, 14, and August, 11, also fell in love with the country while visiting her on set.

'My children came out to visit me and they fell in love with it, and they just never pay attention to where we are on location,' she said.

'My oldest was like: "Can we live here, Mum," and I was like: "I know, right? It's incredible."'

Aside from Australia's abundant natural beauty, Charlize added that she also fell in love with the people.

'I love the people,' she said. 'I love how feisty they are, and the tenacity, and I just think the place is absolutely gorgeous.'

Charlize then doubled down on her promise to move Down Under, with: 'So, yeah, I think this is my future. So whether you like it or not, I'm coming.'
