Saints draft Oscar Delp as viral dog steals the NFL Draft spotlight

Georgia tight end Oscar Delp's family went berserk when he was drafted by the New Orleans Saints on Saturday - with his dog right in the thick of the wild celebrations.

Delp waited to discover his fate for two days before he was finally selected by the Saints with the 73rd overall pick in the third round of the NFL Draft, sparking jubilant scenes in his household.

Yet when his big moment arrived, the 22-year-old's dog was the one who stole the show.

The Delp family's chocolate Labrador joined them for the Draft party on Saturday, sitting in front of the football star as he awaited the news.

When the Saints selected him, and the house erupted in celebration, the dog jumped up in shock before staring at Delp as he was swarmed by his loved ones.

And when he stood up to savor the moment, the crafty canine leapt into his seat on the couch while appearing completely unfazed.

The hilarious video has gone viral on social media, with Delp's dog gaining plenty of fans this weekend.

One user commented on X: 'Buddy was waiting for a seat on the couch'.

Another joked: 'The dog really said "I run this house now"'.

'Spot on couch > Being drafted by Saints,' a third said.

'Dog is a playmaker, gotta respect it,' wrote a fourth.

While another fan simply put: 'This is the content I want to see.'

Delp likely won Saints scouts over with an impressive pro day performance, which saw him run a 4.49 40-yard dash with a 38-inch vertical and 23 bench press reps.

He played in all 14 games of his sophomore and junior year at Georgia with 10 starts each season, while recording a career-high 24 receptions for 284 yards in 2023 and another career-high in receiving touchdowns (4) in 2024.
