Ruth Slenczynska: A Piano Legend Connecting the Past and Present
American pianist Ruth Slenczynska, born in 1925 to Polish immigrants in California, had a remarkable career that spanned over nine decades. Known as composer-pianist Sergei Rachmaninov's last living pupil, Slenczynska's life and music are a testament to the rich history of classical piano.
Slenczynska's exceptional talent was evident from an early age. At the tender age of four, she made her concert debut, and at five, she performed a work of Beethoven on television. In 2021, she re-signed to the record label Decca Classics for her first album with the company since the 1960s.
