Breece Hall secures $45.75M Jets extension as NFL's third-highest-paid running back

The New York Jets have secured running back Breece Hall with a three-year contract extension worth $45.75 million. The deal makes him the third-highest paid running back in the NFL, earning $15.25 million per year. His new contract comes after the team initially used the franchise tag to retain him earlier this offseason. Hall’s extension was finalised before the Jets’ voluntary organised team activities and mandatory minicamp. The agreement reflects his importance to the offence, particularly as a dual-threat in both rushing and receiving. He has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage in three consecutive seasons, including a career-high 1,065 rushing yards in 2022.

That season also made him the first Jets player to exceed 1,000 rushing yards since 2015. His consistency and versatility convinced the team to prioritise keeping him long-term.

The Jets now plan to use a three-running back rotation featuring Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis. With Geno Smith and other offensive additions, the team expects a more productive 2023 season. Hall’s new deal locks him in as a key part of the Jets’ offence for years to come. The team’s commitment to a balanced running game, combined with his proven performance, sets the stage for a stronger ground attack. His contract also signals the franchise’s confidence in his ability to lead the backfield.
