Box jellyfish advisory issued at Hanauma Bay after multiple stings

A box jellyfish advisory has been issued this morning for Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve in East Honolulu.

An HNL Alert was issued at 8:42 a.m. today after box jellyfish were observed at the shoreline and several stings were reported. Signs have been posted.

"Always check with a lifeguard for the latest beach and ocean conditions," said the alert. "In an emergency call 911."

The public can sign up for HNL Alerts by visiting hnlalert.gov or texting "HNLALERT" to 888777 to subscribe to the most important safety alerts.
