Arnsberg's Repair Café closes for Germany's Ascension Day holiday

A public holiday in Germany will lead to a temporary closure for a local community service. Ascension Day falls on Thursday, May 14, 2026, creating a four-day weekend for many. As a result, the Repair Café in Arnsberg has announced it will not open the following day. Ascension Day is a national holiday in Germany, observed each year on the 40th day of Easter. In 2026, it lands on May 14, a Thursday. The following Friday, May 15, is known as a Brückentag—a bridging day that many workers take off to extend their break.

Because of the holiday, the Repair Café in Arnsberg will remain closed on May 15. The volunteer-run workshop, which helps residents fix broken items instead of throwing them away, typically operates on Fridays. However, organisers have confirmed the closure in advance to avoid inconvenience.

The Repair Café will resume its usual schedule the following week. Residents planning to visit are advised to check for further updates. The closure aligns with the public holiday period, giving volunteers and visitors an extended break.
