Frequent Changes in the Kitchen Leadership
Anne-Sophie Pic's Lausanne Restaurant to Close by Year's End
She's hanging up her apron—for the culinary world, the news lands like a bombshell. According to GaultMillau, the Restaurant Anne-Sophie Pic (18/20, two Michelin stars) at Lausanne's Beau-Rivage Palace will serve its final meal on December 31, marking the end of a 17-year era.
The multi-Michelin-starred chef, one of the most influential figures in global gastronomy, will leave Lausanne when her contract expires—without ever achieving the coveted third star she had long hoped to earn for her Swiss outpost.
There were signs that the French chef's restaurant had lost some of its edge. Urs Heller, CEO of GaultMillau, explains:
"Neither Michelin nor GaultMillau awarded Restaurant Pic top honors. From our perspective, this isn't due to a lack of quality but rather the frequent changes in kitchen leadership in Lausanne. Jordan Theurillat, who currently represents Anne-Sophie Pic on-site, is doing outstanding work in his own right."
A New Chapter Begins
As the culinary magazine emphasizes, Anne-Sophie Pic's departure marks the end of a historic era for Lausanne—her first restaurant outside her hometown of Valence.
After years of globe-trotting, the chef now appears to be reshaping her strategy and charting a new course. Following stints in Megève, Singapore, London, and most recently at Dame de Pic in Paris, closures have mounted—while her focus shifts resolutely toward Asia, with new strategic openings planned in China and Japan.
