Anna Jay returns to AEW with a high-stakes TBS Championship challenge
There has now been movement on Anna Jay's end as plans for her immediate future in AEW have been officially announced. She is set to make her long-awaited return to the promotion this weekend. The Queenslayer has not been seen on TV since November, when she and Tay Melo competed in the tournament to crown the inaugural women's tag team champions. Unfortunately, they ended up losing to Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir in the opening round. It was also reported that her contract is set to expire sometime this year, which has led to speculation that her long absence could be due to her possibly leaving the company. Neither she nor Melo has been seen in months. Recently, during one of her Twitch streams, she was asked about her favorite ring gear. She could not provide a substantial answer, but instead hinted at having a new gear ready for her to use when she comes back to the ring. She may have the chance to use this gear on Saturday, as AEW has announced that Anna Jay will be answering Willow Nightingale's TBS Championship Open Challenge. She is now making her long-awaited return and may have a chance to dethrone a top champion. Unfortunately for her, Willow has been on an incredible run as of late. She has been labeled as the "Comeback Killer" as she has now taken down three major stars who have returned from long-term absences from the company. The likes of Queen Aminata, Hikaru Shida, and Kamille have all fallen to her. Anna Jay could end up being the fourth star whose long-awaited return was spoiled by a loss. But nothing is guaranteed just yet, and we could see an upset this coming weekend. With Anna now back, Tay Melo could follow suit soon, and they could look to make up for missed time.
