Amazon's Sterling Point Unveils Teen Secrets on a Canadian Island
The YA series "Sterling Point" has an official premiere date at Amazon Prime Video.
The series will debut all eight episodes of its first season on Aug. 5. Variety exclusively reported the show was in the works at Prime Video in January 2025. The cast includes Ella Rubin, Keen Ruffalo, Jay Duplass, Amélie Elisabeth Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Talifeathers, and Missi Pyle.
The logline for the show describes it as a "coming-of-age drama led by 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Rubin). Raised in New York City with her twin brother (Ruffalo) and loving adoptive father (Duplass), Annie's life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather's island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets."
Megan Park created the series and serves as director, executive producer, and co-showrunner. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage also executive produce and co-showrun via Fake Empire. Dani Gorin and Tom Ackerly executive produce on behalf of LuckyChap. Amazon MGM Studios produces.
Park is known for writing and directing the film "My Old Ass" starring Maisy Stella and Aubrey Plaza. In the film, Stella's character encounters the 39-year-old version of herself - played by Plaza - while on a mushroom trip. The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews upon its release, holding a 90% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. LuckyChap produced "My Old Ass," while Amazon MGM Studios acquired the distribution rights to the film out of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and gave it a limited theatrical release before releasing it on Prime Video.
