Alexander Zverev Kicks Off Miami Tournament with Victory - Zverev stands alone as last German in Miami Open after dominant win

Alexander Zverev has become the sole German player left in the Miami Open after a straight-sets victory. The world number five defeated Martin Damm 6-2, 6-4 in just 69 minutes to reach the third round. His win follows early exits for all other German competitors in the tournament.

Zverev entered the competition with a first-round bye, skipping the opening matches. His second-round clash against Damm saw him dominate from the start. He broke the American's serve in the very first game of both sets and never faced a break point himself.

The match ended swiftly when Zverev converted his first match point. His next opponent will be Marin Čilić, a former US Open champion, in the third round. Elsewhere, German players struggled in Miami. On the men's side, Daniel Altmaier, Jan-Lennard Struff, and Yannick Hanfmann all lost in their first matches. The women's draw saw Ella Seidel, Eva Lys, and Tatjana Maria suffer the same fate. Laura Siegemund advanced to the second round but was then knocked out, leaving Zverev as the only German still competing.

Zverev's efficient performance keeps him in contention for a deep run in the tournament. With no other German players remaining, his progress will be closely watched. The third-round match against Čilić will test his form further.
