Zug United Women claim historic cup title in 6–5 thriller

Zug United Women secured their first-ever cup title in dramatic fashion on Saturday. Over 3,330 fans packed the stadium in Kriens to watch the thrilling final. The match ended 6–5 in favour of Zug United, marking their fifth major trophy in club history.

The game started strongly for Zug United, who raced to a 6–3 lead by the 40-minute mark. Denisa Ratajová was the standout performer, netting three goals and setting up three more. Her contributions gave her side a commanding advantage.

Emmental Zollbrück refused to go down without a fight. In the second half, Janine Salzmann and Lea Hanimann each found the net, cutting the deficit. Despite the late push, Zug United held on to claim a narrow victory.

This win adds to Zug United's growing reputation in women's football. The club has consistently reached the L-UPL semifinals, including a hard-fought 3–2 series lead in a past playoff against Skorpion Emmental. While league titles have remained elusive, their cup success now includes this historic triumph over Emmental Zollbrück.

The 6–5 victory cements Zug United's place in the record books. Ratajová's six-goal involvement proved decisive in a match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The club now looks ahead, building on this cup win as they aim for further success.
