In a tragic turn of events, the Assamese music industry and the nation have lost a beloved figure. Zubeen Garg, a renowned singer, passed away at the age of 52 following a scuba diving accident in Singapore.

Zubeen Garg, a native of Golaghat, Assam, began singing at the tender age of three. His career took off with the release of his debut album, Anamika, in 1992. Over the years, he made a mark in Bollywood with songs for films such as Dil Se, Vaastav, Fiza, Asoka, Kaante, Gangster, and Krrish 3. In the Assamese music scene, he left an indelible mark with albums like Maya, Zubeenor Gaan, Xabda, Pakhi, Shishu, and Jantra.

Garg was in Singapore to participate in the North East Festival and was scheduled to perform later that day when he passed away. He was rushed to Singapore General Hospital, where he was later declared deceased in the ICU around 2:30 PM IST.

Ashok Singhal, Cabinet Minister of Assam, shared his grief over Zubeen Garg's death, as did Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The loss was also deeply felt by Garima Saikia Garg, Garg's wife and a celebrated fashion designer, acclaimed film producer, known for her work in films like Kanchanjangha, Sikaar, and Mission China.

Zubeen Garg's voice had an unmatched ability to energize people, and his music spoke directly to our minds and souls. His 2006 hit Ya Ali from the film Gangster: A Love Story, starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, and Shiney Ahuja, catapulted him to national fame.

Garima Saikia and Zubeen Garg shared a life that was often glimpsed through their social media posts. Their photos frequently went viral, offering a glimpse into their loving relationship. Garima Saikia, who hails from Assam as well, married Zubeen Garg on February 4, 2002. The couple is survived by their son, Gautam Garg.

Zubeen Garg was more than a singer; he was the pride of Assam and the nation, whose songs carried our culture, our emotions, and our spirit to every corner of the world. His works will inspire many more talented artists in the years to come. The void left by his passing will never be filled.

The Northeast India Festival issued a statement confirming that Garg developed severe breathing difficulties during scuba diving. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.

Zubeen Garg's sudden demise has left fans, supporters, and the Assamese community worldwide in shock and grief. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and in the music he left behind.
