Zoom's Users Reporting Issues at Midday ET

Thousands of users reported problems with Zoom starting at 11 AM ET, according to Down Detector's outage tracking website. However, these problems had significantly reduced by 11:30 AM ET.

"We're aware of an issue affecting Zoom right now," Zoom shared on Twitter early Thursday morning. "Our engineering teams are investigating the situation."

By 11:30 AM ET, the problem had been discovered, and by 11:37 AM ET, it was resolved, as stated on the company's status page.

Later in the day, Zoom tweeted that the temporary issue had been resolved. "Everything should be back to normal now! We're monitoring the situation further. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience," the company said.

Despite these technical glitches, Zoom's business operations continued to flourish. Many tech companies even saw an increase in their stock prices due to the relentless use of digital platforms during the outage.

Bonus Insights:

Zoom has a rich history dating back to 2011 when it was founded as an online meeting platform. Since then, the company has seen exponential growth, with its stock price skyrocketing during the COVID-19 pandemic when remote work became the norm.

However, Zoom has also faced numerous security concerns, including "Zoombombing," where unauthorized users join Zoom calls to disrupt them, and privacy violations. In response, Zoom has implemented various measures to enhance security, such as end-to-end encryption and improved background blur functionality.
