Hoof Beats and Heart Rate Spikes: Behind the Scenes of "Elephant, Tiger & Kids" in Erfurt Zoo
Zoo shooting in Erfurt halted abruptly!
If you recently stumbled upon the bustling activity at Erfurt Zoo, you might have caught a glimpse of the film crew setting up their cameras and lights. They were busy capturing moments for the third season of the hit spin-off, "Elephant, Tiger & Kids." But, as in any zoo life, the day wasn't all smooth sailing for the team.
A Whirlwind Day for Tina Risch at Erfurt Zoo
"Elephant, Tiger & Kids" gives a glimpse into the lives of six young interns as they navigate their way through various German zoos, including Erfurt. While the show highlights the fun aspects, like elephant baths or the birth of newborn animals, it doesn't shy away from the more challenging tasks, such as labor-intensive yard work or even feeding carnivores live food.
For Tina Risch, the zoo vet in Erfurt, the day was an exhilarating mix of excitement and stress. The teenagers clearly enjoyed their experience, and Tina shared her joy with Thüringen24. Yet, as often happens, the day was far from perfect.
Unexpected Halts: When Showtime Stops
Tina recounted her day's events, explaining that the additional filming made her days quite busy. However, things got complicated when the filming needed to be paused due to animal emergencies. A Nandu and a donkey needed immediate medical attention, and it was crucial to act quickly. The Nandu had collided with its enclosure's fence, while the donkey was suffering from a hoof abscess. As always, the health and well-being of the animals took priority.
