Zoo 55 Collaborates with Spotify on Strategic Content Agreement

In a significant move to diversify its content, Spotify has announced partnerships with ITV Studios and Channel 4. This collaboration aims to bring a wide range of video content to Spotify's platform, marking a new chapter in the streaming giant's multimedia journey.

At the forefront of this partnership is The Graham Norton Show, an internationally renowned late-night entertainment programme featuring some of the world's biggest stars. The show, produced by ITV Studios but actually broadcast by the BBC, will be available on Spotify for the first time.

The Graham Norton Show Channel will also launch on the Roku Channel in the United States and Canada, expanding its reach even further. Chris Whiteley, Managing Director of Northern Europe at Spotify, expressed his excitement about this collaboration, noting it as a significant step in Spotify's mission to become a destination for entertainment beyond music.

ITV Studios' Zoo 55 has partnered with Spotify as well, bringing a variety of shows to the platform. Among these are I Was a Teenage Felon, a series presenting real-life accounts of young individuals involved in high-stakes criminal activity, and Dead Set on Life, a show that follows Matty Matheson as he explores Canadian culture and cuisine.

Channel 4, the first UK broadcaster to offer video content on Spotify, will make video content available on Spotify from later this week. The initial tranche of programming on Spotify from Channel 4 targets audiences aged 13 to 24, aligning with Spotify's focus on younger demographics.

The partnership with Channel 4 draws from Channel 4.0, its digital-first platform. Graham Haigh, COO of Zoo 55, is excited to bring ITV Studios' shows to Spotify's global audience, noting the potential for these programmes to reach new audiences and create engaging experiences for Spotify users.

Meanwhile, ITV is focusing on its UK advertiser-funded streaming service, ITVX, and growing its global Studios division. This move comes after ITV Studios has sold its entire 50% interest in BritBox International to BBC Studios for £255 million.

As for the collaboration between Spotify and ITV Studios in Germany, no information regarding its start date is currently available. Nonetheless, this partnership marks an exciting development in the world of streaming, as Spotify continues to expand its video offerings and solidify its position as a multimedia powerhouse.
