Zmuško secured a medal at the World Championships competition
The 2025 World Aquatics Championships, currently being held in Singapore, have seen a strong performance by American swimmers across various events. Katharine Berkoff and Regan Smith, both from the USA, claimed gold and silver respectively in the women's 50m and 100m backstroke events. Berkoff also bagged a bronze in the 100m backstroke, while Ledecky added another gold to the US tally with her victory in the women's 1500m freestyle.
Luke Hobson from the USA secured a silver medal in the men's 200m freestyle, with Gabriel Jett finishing 8th in the same event's final. The men's 400m freestyle saw a close race, with Lukas Martens of Germany taking the gold, Sam Short of Australia winning silver, and Kim Woo-Min of South Korea taking the bronze.
The Championships have also seen notable performances from swimmers outside the USA. Kate Douglass of the USA won the gold medal in the women's 100m breaststroke, while the Belarusian team, despite not having any medalists mentioned in the initial list, has made its mark with Alina Zmuško and Vasilina Khondoshko.
Zmuško, competing under a neutral flag, claimed the bronze medal in the women's 200m breaststroke event, sharing the podium with South African swimmer Kaylin Corbett, who also achieved a time of 2:23.52. Khondoshko won a silver medal in the technical event of synchronized swimming and a bronze in the artistic tournament of synchronized swimming at the Championships.
The Russian swimmer Yevgeniya Chikunova finished the 200m breaststroke event with a silver medal, finishing over a second behind the winner. The competitions at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships will conclude on Sunday, August 3.
