Zinserling potentially faces another term?
Thunderous Extravaganza in Gräfenroda with the 31st Annual Thuringian Stone Heaving Championships
Gear up for a week of jubilant celebration as Gräfenroda and SV 90 Gräfenroda commemorate their 35-year milestones at the historic Old Pond. Kick-starting the festivities is the Thuringian Stone Heaving Championships on June 21st, a long-standing tradition that will also celebrate the club's 60th anniversary.
The action-packed event commences at 2 PM, showcasing the might of our strong women and men on stage. Established in 1991, the Stone Heaving Championships have drawn athletes from across Germany, keen to claim the title of Thuringia's mightiest stone heaver. A potent blend of strength and technique is vital to conquer the initial 140 kg and subsequent weight elevations. Watch as Tobias Zinserling, the current record holder, sets for another record-breaking performance. He snatched the record back in 2016 at a staggering 426 kg!
Keep your eyes peeled for notable contestants such as Paul Munkelt from Jena, a regular on the podium at Gräfenroda and Stadtilm. There's also Dennis Biesenbach from North Rhine-Westphalia, the German Strongman vice-champion, and Enrico Hoell, the multiple Berlin and Brandenburg powerlifting champion. Buckle up for an epic confrontation between Dominik Straube, the Geratal municipality's mayor, and Alexander Meinhardt Heib, president of the Thuringian Athletes' Association.
Prepare to be awestruck by the female competitors, too. Five-time winner Lydia Eschrich from SV 90 Gräfenroda holds the record at a daunting 192.5 kg. Adding to the rivalry are top contestants from Stemmclub Leipzig and Weightlifting Leipzig, including Anna Eichner, the 2025 German Masters weightlifting champion. Get ready for a battle royale!
Note that the current record holder's details and the weight lifted record may not be exhaustively documented in major sources or popular records.
