Faction leader Zimmermann declares departure from BSW - Zimmermann, head of BSW Group, publicly declares his resignation

In a poignant announcement made in Dresden, Sabine Zimmermann, the Fraction Chairwoman of the Saxon BSW and current leader of the third largest fraction in the Landtag, has announced her retirement from active politics.

Zimmermann, who has been a vocal advocate for those often overlooked by current politics, expressed her confidence that the BSW will continue to give a voice to these individuals. She cited her severe illness, which she experienced at the beginning of the year, as the reason for her retirement.

The illness has taken a toll on Zimmermann's strength, and she admitted that it has shown her her physical limits. Despite this, she wished her party all the best in her retirement announcement.

In her absence, Stefan Zierke will succeed Zimmermann as the chairperson of the BSW parliamentary group. Zierke was not a candidate for the state party conference in Bautzen last weekend, where Jörg Scheibe and Ronny Kupke were elected as the new party board.

Scheibe and Kupke, who are both members of the BSW, will take over from Zimmermann as the new party board. Scheibe was also elected as the new party chairman, while Kupke will continue in his role as the deputy fraction chair.

More information about the successor for the leadership of the BSW fraction is yet to be determined, according to Fraction Spokesperson Ines Schwarze. However, it is known that Zierke will step into Zimmermann's shoes as the Fraction Chair.

Zimmermann will also step down from her mandate in the Landtag at the end of the year. The BSW is represented in the Landtag with 15 members, making it the third largest fraction.

In her retirement, Zimmermann will leave behind a legacy of advocacy and dedication to the causes she believes in. Her departure from active politics will undoubtedly leave a void, but the BSW is poised to continue its mission under new leadership.
