Zhanibek Alimhanuly challenges Saul Alvares to a fight
Alright, let's straight up talk about Kazakh boxing sensation, Zhanibek Alimkhanuly. This dude's been making some serious noise in the middleweight division, holding both the WBO and IBF titles as we speak.
He lately (April 2025) smacked down Anael N'Gamisseng in Astana, Kazakhstan, scoring a TKO win and defending his titles. Not one to stay put, this little dynamo's got big ambitions. He's hungry to become an undisputed champion in not just one, but TWO divisions.
He's eyeing WBC middleweight champ Carlos Adames (24-1-1), WBA middleweight champ Erislandy Lara (31-3-3), and the undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2).
In his Instagram stories, he flat out announced, "This year, I'll knock out Carlos, claim my third title. I'll retire Lara. And next May, I'll step into the ring with 'Canelo' to become the undisputed champ of both divisions."
Interestingly, Alimkhanuly's been itching for a high-profile fight against Canelo, aiming to unify more titles. If things fall into place, we might see these two titans face off sometime in 2026.
Remember, this dude's already got the WBO and IBF belts, so it makes sense he'd be gunning for the WBA and WBC titles too. But with all that glitters not always being gold, no official schedule beyond his recent defense and the proposed Canelo fight has been released yet.
So, keep your eyes peeled because if Alimkhanuly gets his way, we're looking at some epic bouts in the near future!
Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, the middleweight division's rising star, aims to extend his dominance to two divisions by targeting the WBC title currently held by Carlos Adames. In his quest, he also has his sights set on the WBA title owned by Erislandy Lara and the undisputed world champion title in the super middleweight division, belonging to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Announcing his aspirations on his Instagram stories, Alimkhanuly declared his intention to "knock out Carlos, claim my third title, retire Lara, and face Canelo to become the undisputed champ of both divisions" in the upcoming year.
