Revamped Revelation:

Get ready, 'Bond freaks'! IO Interactive has officially unveiled the title for their upcoming James Bond game - 007 First Light. This spin-off seems to be an origin story, as per IO's earlier suggestions, and the announcement is accompanied by a chilling silhouette of the new Bond, clad in a bomber jacket and packing a Walther PPK.

The game's website, while not brimming with info, is up and running, giving us the lowdown: 007 First Light is a whole new James Bond video game, developed and published by the Hitman creators themselves. Players will tread the path of a young and ambitious Secret Agent, as they embark on a mission to earn their 00 status.

The Daniel Craig-esque vibe is strong as ever, and from Casino Royale, we know "earn the number" typically implies a body count of two—agents, mind you; our Bond is a lethal feline indeed.

IO's CEO, Hakan Abrak, previously hinted at the game's unique approach. "What's exciting about [007] is that we actually got to do an original story," Abrak said. "So it's not a gamification of a movie. It's a completely new beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future."

Abrak hinted at the game being designed specifically for gamers, stating "We're building this Bond from the ground up for gamers." The "family" Abrak refers to is the Broccolis, who have produced the Bond films and held the rights to the character. However, earlier this year, Amazon MGM snatched up the rights, so it remains to be seen if this new game will carry the Broccoli stamp of approval.

With the announcement stating we'll see the game this week, many are speculating a big reveal at this Friday's Summer Game Fest. So get your martinis shaken, not stirred, and get ready for a new chapter in the world of 007!
