Zenit Striker Identified as Season's Top Performer by Arshavin

Andrei Arshavin, former Russian national team striker and Zenit St. Petersburg legend, has suggested that the best player in the Russian Premier League (RPL) should hail from the champion team. Arshavin named four potential candidates for the honorary title, with three of them playing for Krasnodar: midfielder Eduard Spertsyan and forwards Moses Cobbina and John Cordoba. From Zenit, Arshavin singled out goalkeeper Yevgeny Latoshonk, the graduate of Krasnodar, as the only player worthy of the title of best in this season.

Notably, Spertsyan boasts the most impressive statistics among the mentioned players, having scored 10 goals and made 5 assists in 27 appearances. The title race for the RPL championship is reaching its climax today, with all matches of the final round set to kick off simultaneously at 16:30 Moscow time. Krasnodar leads the race by one point over Zenit St. Petersburg.

Recent performance statistics and club standings commonly highlight players from top clubs like Zenit St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow, Krasnodar, and Spartak Moscow as contenders for the RPL’s best player award. However, there is currently no record of Andrei Arshavin's personal ranking of the current top players or their clubs.

Bookmakers across European leagues, including the Russian Premier League, are considering midfielder Eduard Spertsyan of Krasnodar as a strong contender for the best player award, given his impressive statistics this season. In spite of Zenit St. Petersburg's strong lineup and their modest lead in the championship race, not all pundits agree with Andrei Arshavin's belief that a Zenit player is the best in the league this season.
