Zenit bids farewell to Malcolm with two groundbreaking transfer deals in his name.
Zenit Winger Malcom Heads to Al Hilal in Record-Breaking Transfer
In a move that will shake up the Saudi Arabian league, Zenit winger Malcom is set to join Al Hilal in a deal that is set to break several transfer records.
The transfer, confirmed by Alexander Medvedev, the chairman of St. Petersburg club Zenit, is said to be worth 60 million euros. Half of the fee will be paid immediately after the deal is closed, with the remaining half to be paid by the end of the 2023/24 season.
Malcom's move to Al Hilal is significant as it will be the most expensive transfer in the history of the Saudi Pro League, surpassing the current record held by the club itself. In 2019, Al Hilal paid 55 million euros for Portuguese player Ruben Neves from Wolverhampton.
Last season, Malcom was a standout performer for Zenit, scoring 23 goals in the Russian Premier League to become the championship's top scorer. In total, he played 109 matches for the Russian champions, scoring 42 goals and making 24 assists.
Interestingly, the transfer of Malcom to Al Hilal is free of any bonuses, making it an even more significant deal in the world of football transfers. This is in contrast to the most money ever received by Zenit for a player, when they sold Brazilian Hulk to Shanghai SIPG in 2016 for 56 million euros, with potential bonuses.
It remains to be seen how Malcom will perform in the Saudi Arabian league, but one thing is certain - his arrival is set to make waves in the league and bring excitement to Al Hilal fans.
