Zenit and Krasnodar lock horns in thrilling Russian Premier League title race

According to the former midfielder, the main contenders for the league trophy have already emerged, with the decisive battle for first place likely to unfold between Zenit and Krasnodar.

Glushakov noted that the start of the spring leg of the championship has delivered several surprising results. He admitted he was taken aback by CSKA Moscow's underperformance, while Dynamo Moscow, on the contrary, has managed to assert itself with confidence. In the ex-player's view, this unpredictability is what makes the current season particularly thrilling for fans.

"My take? Zenit and Krasnodar will fight it out for the title," Glushakov said in an interview with Match TV.

Discussing the strengths of the frontrunners, he highlighted Krasnodar's more consistent form. The club has also retained its well-drilled partnerships on the pitch while bolstering its squad—factors that have elevated the quality of its play. At the same time, Glushakov emphasized that Zenit holds a key advantage: the ability to attract top-tier talent, keeping the team firmly among the championship favorites.

As of now, Krasnodar tops the RPL standings with 49 points, followed closely by Zenit with 48. Lokomotiv Moscow sits third with 44 points.
