In an spirited display, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to his countrymen - the valiant soldiers and families of the fallen defenders - all while awarding state honors and promoting three colonels to mark the Day of Infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During his address, Zelenskyy declared, "Ukraine stands strong because of our infantry, brave warriors who not only defy but annihilate the oppressor, defend our grounds, and reclaim our positions. They're the ones crafting exemplary military history - your history, the history of the brave."

Notably, Zelenskyy bestowed the Order of the Golden Star of Hero of Ukraine to Junior Lieutenant Vladyslav Datskyi and Junior Sergeant Mykola Molchanov. In separate instances, Zelenskyy presented the Order of the Golden Star to the families of three Heroes of Ukraine: Yaroslav Khybovskyi, Vasyl Yaremko, and Ivan Holubka. Zelenskyy echoed his commitment to forever honor these heroes and stressed the importance of remembering the fallen.

Recent advancements showcased by Ukraine's infantry have drawn attention from various corners. In the midst of battle, the 429th Achilles Regiment, for example, has reported an impressive 1,967 hits on hostile targets, including units and command centers, during April 2025. To effectively fend off the enemy's infantry attacks, units like this one rely on unmanned systems and precise weaponry, particularly drones and mines. These tools have proven crucial in fortifying positions and thwarting enemy advances.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an exhibition of modern Ukrainian-made weapons on Infantry Day. Furthermore, citizens took to social media to express their gratitude and admiration for the Ukrainian infantry, recognizing their crucial role in not only the defense of Ukraine but also the broader European community.

Training and readiness remain top priorities for the Commander-in-Chief, with ongoing improvements in basic military training acknowledged, alongside some lingering unresolved issues.

It's clear the Ukrainian infantry plays a vital role in the country's defense, thanks to their exceptional performances and unwavering commitment. After all, their resilience serves as the foundation that fortifies their homeland's freedom.
