Keep your eyes peeled, folks, as the drama unfolds in Ukraine's ongoing saga.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is still open to the idea of participating in the upcoming round of peace talks, tentatively scheduled for this coming Monday, elaborated in a conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. No further details were disclosed, but Zelensky emphasized the need for tangible results if Ukraine is to partake.

The most recent prisoner exchange marks an important milestone from the negotiations in Istanbul, but, as Zelensky points out, it's unfortunately the only one. The ending of hostilities and the establishment of a ceasefire is crucial for any meaningful progress towards achieving peace. The violence simply must stop.

The second round of talks is slated for June 2 in Istanbul, where Ukraine and Russia are set to discuss a possible resolution to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Russia has also put forth a memorandum that Ukraine has requested to review. However, Russia has rejected Ukraine's proposal for a detailed review and instead wishes to focus on drafting a statement of intent in Istanbul. Direct talks were rekindled for the first time since 2022 following Russia's initiative.

Zelensky hints at a potential four-way summit with the presidents of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, and the United States. He didn't go into detail, but expressed gratitude towards Turkey for their support in Ukraine's pursuit of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In his evening address, Zelensky castigated Russia for losing its diplomatic finesse. "They continue to take actions to demonstrate that they're the quintessential asinine actor on the world stage," Zelensky said. Nevertheless, the persistence of their unruly actions serves to galvanize support for stepped-up pressure against Russia.
